The College: The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is home to the departments of Information Sciences and Technologies, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computing Security, and the School of Interactive Games and Media. The college's Ph.D. program in Computer and Information Sciences was ranked 68th in the U.S. News and World Reports 2018 ranking of Best Doctoral Computer Science Programs. The college has 140 faculty and more than 3100 undergraduate and 850 graduate students; the Golisano College building opened in 2003 and includes a usability testing laboratory, physical prototyping laboratory, and other research facilities.
The Department: Computer Science (http://cs.rit.edu) is the largest department at RIT. Our student-centered programs are home to over 1,200 students pursuing BS, MS, BS/MS, and PhD degrees. Student employment rates upon graduation are over 98%, often with leading technology companies. Our innovative problem-based introductory programming sequence has been continuously updated, in part through research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
We have enhanced our research presence while maintaining our commitment to excellence in student instruction. Our faculty publish in top-tier venues, and contribute to leading conferences and journals. Research is carried out in the areas of artificial intelligence, computing education, data science, distributed systems, graphics and visualization, pervasive computing, programming languages, security, and theory. The Department of Computer Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for Lecturer and Visiting Lecturer positions in computer science.
Lecturers contribute to the academic mission of the Computer Science Department and will be responsible for course preparations, formal classroom and lab teaching, new lecture and lab course development in the areas of introductory and core Computer Science. Lecturers will also be responsible for student mentoring and contributing to the advancement of the Department through service assignments. A Lecturer will engage in professional growth through activities such as further study, writing, lecturing, and active participation in professional societies.
