Friends School Haverford seeks a dynamic, experienced, creative part-time science teacher to teach students in grades 3-8 beginning in late August 2020. Major responsibilities include planning and implementing a creative, hands-on science program that incorporates the life sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, and STEAM; establishing a classroom culture that supports children socially, emotionally, and academically; working collaboratively and cooperatively with families, faculty, and staff, and partnering with other teachers and specialists to implement best practices.
Strong candidates will have:
Formal training and a degree in science (B.A./B.S. or M.A./M.S.)
a minimum of 3 years of science teaching experience to students in grades 3-8
experience in curriculum development
excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
the interest in and capability to work, plan, and implement project-based learning initiatives
a broad repertoire of strategies to teach children with diverse learning styles
a strong interest in and facility with integrating technology in the classroom
experience with distance learning and teaching
excellent organizational skills
excitement about working closely and collaboratively with other educators
a high level of interest in Quaker education.
