William Penn Charter School seeks a full-time Upper School Science teacher to fill a maternity leave position from late August through very early November 2020. The teaching assignment includes one section of Anatomy and Physiology, one section of 9th grade Biology, and two sections of 10th grade Chemistry. The position will also include other responsibilities of an Upper School faculty member, such as attendance at meetings, advising, and lunch duties. Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree in the Sciences or a closely related field and experience teaching ideally at the middle and/or high school level. The successful candidate will embrace student-centered pedagogy and technology use in the classroom, model curiosity and a desire for professional growth, possess an understanding of and appreciation for teaching adolescents, and exhibit a desire to build positive and meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and parents in a manner consistent with the School's mission. Familiarity with the principles and practices of Quakerism and Quaker education is highly desirable. Prior experience with online teaching is also a plus.
