The College blends excellence in science education and cutting-edge research in diverse programs such as molecular medicine, climate dynamics, planetary science, forensic science, environmental studies, and geoinformation science.
Reporting to the Dean of the College, with a dotted-line to the Vice President of Finance, the Chief Business Officer (CBO) will facilitate the planning and implementation of the College's financial and operational vision as it relates to the full range of business functions and activities. The CBO will facilitate short and long-range strategic planning for new and/or expanding programs; partnerships; revenue generation; operations; and new ventures. The CBO will be accountable for and provide overall leadership, supervision, management, and coordination of these functions, as well as provide oversight of the development and implementation of policies and procedures to achieve desired outcomes. The CBO will work closely with the other senior leaders of the College administration to ensure optimal resourcing for the College's various activities while maintaining collaborative relationships with Mason’s central administration offices and peers in other academic units.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Supervise functional area leaders in the College to assist them in the successful operation of their areas;
Drive creative methods to manage and operate financial resources to allow for opportunities to advance the College’s strategic plan;
Direct the production, analysis, and projections of nontraditional revenue opportunities;
Develop annual forecasts and longer-term (3-5 year) financial plans for the College, including
