Founded in 1884, Staten Island Academy is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory school serving students from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. The Academy has an opening for a Technology Integrator/Computer Science teacher in our Lower and Middle Schools. This is a 10-month, full-time position. The Technology Integrator /Computer Science teacher reports to the Director of Educational Technology and works closely with administrators, teachers and students in Lower and Middle School. Responsibilities
Collaborate with Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 faculty to develop innovative technology rich curricula and projects.
Teach technology classes with an emphasis on computational thinking and computer science/engineering concepts in Middle School.
Assist in training and supporting faculty in the use of new and existing technology (one-on-one training, team teaching, assist/lead group workshops).
Supervise the Haugen Hall MakerSpace.
Manage the iPad/ laptop program in Lower and Middle School.
Assist in end-user technical support.
B.A. or B.S. degree with experience working in an educational environment.
The ability to promote 21st century learning outcomes by utilizing design thinking methodologies.
The ability to work comfortably in a Windows environment.
Proficiency in using a variety of software applications: MS Office 365, LMS, SMART Notebook, in addition to digital media authoring applications.
Familiarity with introductory programming and robotics concepts: Scratch, Python; WeDo, NXT and Lego EV3 robotics, in particular.
Experience in working with tools such as 3D printers, SketchUp, Tinkercad; Makey Makey; littleBITS and micro:bits to foster innovation in our STEAM centered MakerSpace.
