The Tatnall Lower School is seeking a qualified science teacher who is interested in teaching children in grades 1-4 for approximately 12 weeks starting in late August. The Lower School science curriculum is a project-based program that employs the scientific method and hands-on experiential learning. The Lower School science teacher should be someone who is enthusiastic about teaching science outdoors using our 110-acre campus. This position will require in person and virtual teaching due to COVID guidelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teaching science classes grades 1-4
Teaching science outdoors regularly
Maintaining lab materials and ensure safety precautions are followed by students
Building authentic relationships with students, families, and co-workers
Communicating student progress clearly and effectively to students, parents, and faculty, through emails, meetings, formal student reports
Integrating technology into the curriculum
Creating an inclusive environment and add diversity into all aspects of the program
Collaborating with classroom teachers and science department members
Experience teaching science, preferably in a lower school/elementary program and a commitment to an inquiry-based model of science education
