The successful candidate will be a master educator who displays passion for teaching chemistry and a willingness to teach science electives. Their lessons should be infused with a knowledge of current events, relevant field work, and laboratory research; other responsibilities and competencies include:
Teaching 5 sections, including chemistry, honors chemistry, AP chemistry, and/or other science electives
Designing classes that focus on the interconnectedness of chemistry and the process of science, rather than memorization
Connecting with students and offering them appropriate challenges through lessons focusing on facilitation rather than lecturing
Advising approximately 12 students and facilitating the integration of our “Lead from Here” curriculum
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management systems (Veracross and Canvas)
Serving on committees and/or leading an active student club
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners’ needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive department
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education; MA in Science or MEd in Science highly desirable; Chemistry coursework preferred; experience teaching Chemistry highly desirable.
