Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions and to the Director of Admissions, the Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will develop and implement a recruitment plan to facilitate a strong and diverse MD applicant pool at VP&S. The Coordinator will manage on-campus events including information sessions and admitted student day (Revisit). The incumbent will travel off campus, on occasion, to visit undergraduate schools or relevant conferences for outreach to meet the missions of VP&S and will develop marketing and communications strategies to support all aspects of the admissions cycle including events and programs throughout the year. The Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Sr. Associate Dean of Admissions and to the Assistant Dean of Admissions. The responsibilities will include the following.
Travel to various undergraduate schools throughout the non-interview season (February-May)
Work in collaboration with the VP&S Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs to facilitate a strong and diverse applicant pool through presentations, social media, and printed materials
Travel to/ participate in conferences relevant to admissions and/or diversity
Liaison with undergraduate admissions offices, pre-health committees, and post baccalaureate offices to plan and promote VP&S outreach efforts
Gather and help analyze admissions data to inform best practices for recruitment
Develop and implement proposed annual national recruitment plan with the Sr. Associate Dean of Admissions and other Admissions staff
Be available to meet with applicants individually on interview days to discuss programs and support for our diverse student body (virtual during upcoming 2021 cycle)
Establish relationships with applicants during the admissions process and be available to support their needs throughout this time
Develop virtual admissions presentations to provide information for a large volume of prospective applicants
Manage campus events including information sessions and admitted student's day activities (Revisit)
Represent VP&S to prospective students with the highest degree of professionalism through an array of outreach programs and activities including but not limited to the following: visiting colleges, attending college fair programs, communicating with prospective applicants throughout the recruitment and admission process, and other assigned outreach initiatives
Use technology to develop new practices for enhancing admissions marketing and communications
Develop content and multimedia presentation for the admissions website and provide regular updates
Design and create printed materials for prospective applicants
Organize and monitor interviewer training in the areas of implicit bias and holistic review
Serve as primary liaison for Admissions student leaders and prospective students
Recruit and train admissions volunteers (VP&S students) for outreach events
Advise Pre-Health society on VP&S Admissions applicant requirements and protocols
Identify, with other Admissions staff, incoming students who may need extra support and help implement a plan for their successful transition to VP&S
Administrative Support for the Office of Admissions
Assist with screening applications for the Regular MD Program
Respond to walk-in and e-mail inquiries
Respond to student uploads through ZAP-AMP
Assist with answering the high-volume telephone inquiries
Create applicants on the Student Information System (SIS)
Create and update template messages and announcements to communicate with prospective students through ZAP-AMP
Manage the Admissions website with updates, change in policy and other identified needs
Assist with final admissions decision mailings
The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will also assist with other varied related admissions duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus three years of related experience.
Experience in a medical school or health science education setting.
Experience managing social media in recruiting or marketing.
Demonstrated experience using data to support strategic planning.
Demonstrated strong communication skills.
