Black Pine Circle School is an Independent K-8 School in Berkeley California dedicated to educating students in Socratic and Critical Thinking strategies. We are currently seeking a Sixth Grade Math Teacher (Upper School).
Reports to: Head of Upper School
The Sixth Grade Math Teacher is responsible for three periods each day of instruction along with one period per week of 6th Grade Advisory. Areas of emphasis will include coordination of 6th Grade math curricular scope and sequence, project work with our Technology teacher, Science teacher, Ecology teacher, and all members of the Upper School team.
Specific Tasks Include:
Direct Instruction (class-time with students)
Curricular Design (course scope and sequence)
Report Card and Progress Report Writing for Approximately 22 Students in Three Sections
Assisting with Student Behavioral Issues
Working With BPC’s Upper School Faculty (in faculty meetings)
Parent Communication Through Email and Phone, and Parent Teacher Conferences
Qualified applicants should have:
BA/BS required, CA teaching credential or MA/MS strongly preferred
Minimum of four years of experience in education
Experience with Multicultural Education
A passion for mathematics
Excellent teaching, writing, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff
A commitment to the mission and educational philosophy of the school
