The Kinkaid School is seeking a dynamic, innovative Science Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute on the Middle School team. This is a temporary assignment that could start in November, 2020 and go through April, 2021*. The Kinkaid School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school enrolling 1,400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the school offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, diverse culture.
*Dates subject to change based on the current faculty member’s start/return date.
The long-term substitute will teach 7th Grade Life Science. The position includes responsibility for an advisory group, providing instruction for five sections of students, and supervisory responsibilities as requested. The school day begins at 7:45 and concludes at 3:45.
Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred
Background in Life Science or medicine preferred
A minimum of three years of experience teaching at the Middle School level, with proven mastery in effectively delivering content
Core knowledge of the development of middle-school children and a proven ability to connect content with students’ interests and passions
Passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, academically-sound lessons
A collegial attitude and demonstrated ability to work in teams
Eagerness to grow professionally and remain current within the field
