The Xu lab at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University is looking for a Post-Doctoral Associate who will be using cutting edge computer vision and machine learning tools for analyzing cryo-ET 3D image data. This person will support on-going research programs in the lab and manage sub-projects and write up results as journal papers.
* Independently design experiments and research protocols.
* Solely set up and perform sound experimental procedures. Suggest improvements in research methodology. * Collect, verify and manage data. Develop data analysis methods and protocols. * Perform complex and original data analysis in order to produce reports, documents, and processes. * May develop computational modeling methods. * Write and edit recommendations and reports. * Could manage IRB approval processes and document IRB policies for assigned research projects. * Might program software in support of job functions. * Perform lab management functions including: adhere to established lab budget and provide input to budget planning. Supervise purchasing and plan capital expenditures. Establish and enforce safety policies and procedures. Ensure regulatory requirements are adhered to. Establish policies and supervise the maintenance of administrative records. Supervise lab employees including assignment of day-to-day duties. Assist with hiring. * Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Skills: * Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Electric Engineering, computational biology, or related fields. * A good track of publication records in related areas. * Excellent analytical and oral/written communication skills.
