![]() Grants Development Coordinator Requisition ID: 2020-6715 Position Type: Full-Time Schedule Shift: Day Hours Per Week: 38 Travel: None Category: Research Overview The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) supports the university community with pre-award research concept/proposal development assistance as well as grants management. The Grants Development Coordinator position reports to the Director Sponsored Programs, but functions in a largely independent manner on a day-to-day basis to lead/manage pre-award activities and actions in Basic Sciences, Education, Public Services, and Clinical Trials consistent with strategic priorities set by the Provost and the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). This position reports to the Director, Office Sponsored Programs and will be responsible for pre-award activities at Touro University California. This position will provide positive relationships with TU investigators and researchers, and identify exciting funding opportunities on their behalf, cultivate effective grants submission strategies that lead to successful awards, partner with faculty and research teams to identify unique funding sources, coordinate grant development for complex research applications and engage in proposal development activities, interpret and explain funding agency and institutional requirements, and provide review and editing assistance, as well as training and outreach to the University community. Responsibilities
Qualifications An authority on pre-award grant submission process Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelors degree, Masters degree preferred At least 3 years experience in a research administration office, preferably in basic and translational research. Strong computer and online database skills Experience in preparing detailed budgets, expense reports and financial projections Experience with the development/submission of research grants, and with reading and interpreting funding opportunities Competency using a variety of computer software and internet search engine tools An effective communicator, capable of resolving how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact Ability to work under tight deadlines CORE COMPETENCIES: identify the behavior an employee is expected to demonstrate.
Preferred: Prefer 5 years demonstrated experience with development and submission of extramural proposal for grants and contracts in a university environment; Certified Research Administrator Certification preferred. Working knowledge of federal regulations regarding fiscal management of federal funds such as OMB Circulars and Federal Acquisition Regulations. Experience with electronic research systems such as Grants.gov/Workspace, NSF Fastlane/Research.gov, NIH Commons/ASSIST, etc. Experience with University-specific systems such as SmartGrant or equivalent.
