In this full-time position, the new science teacher will be an experienced, talented teacher looking for a position where passion and innovation are encouraged and supported. The position begins January 4, 2021 with the possibility of some concurrent time with the current teacher before December 18, 2020. Bancroft is currently holding classes in person. Teachers must also be prepared to teach remotely.
Faculty in the Middle School teach four classes, advise a group of 7 – 9 students, and work with students in activities and clubs. A willingness to collaborate with learning specialists in teaching students with language-based learning differences, developing an understanding of the philosophies that drive our Hope Graham Program, and the ability to contribute to the Middle School science team as they develop an exciting curricular redesign are all essential. The best candidates will also demonstrate an ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and be an integral member of the PK – 12 science department. Teachers are using Google Classroom daily.
Teach four sections of seventh grade science
Be a member of the seventh grade team and an advisor
Participate in all aspects of Middle School life including activities, clubs, and, if applicable, coaching
Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education (Master’s preferred)
Three to five years teaching experience preferred
Experience with Google Classroom
Experience in and enthusiasm for designing curriculum and inquiry-based learning
Proven ability to differentiate instruction
The ability to pivot quickly to a remote learning environment
Essential Attitudes and Aptitudes
A continued interest in Professional Development as a lifelong learner
A collaborative spirit
A willingness to participate with enthusiasm in all aspects of the school community
An understanding of and love for Middle School students
