POSITION DESCRIPTION: St. Paul’s School announces a search for a Science Teacher to begin duties in August 2021. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to teach three to four classes of physics. There may also be an opportunity to teach chemistry or biology in the future. St. Paul’s School offers a Physics First curriculum. The core course sequence consists of physics in the first year of high school followed by chemistry and biology. In addition to offering biology (5th Form or 11th grade), the science department also offers advanced courses such as molecular biology, environmental science, advanced physics and many others. The mission of our core sciences is to prepare students to be curious science students who take an inquiring perspective about the world and are inspired to take more science courses. RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibility of the teacher will be to teach 3-4 sections of physics. There may be an opportunity to teach a section of chemistry or biology. A successful candidate will work closely with 3-4 other physics teachers in a highly collaborative group. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching physics at the secondary level and who can teach physics at multiple levels.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty at St. Paul’s School are responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment, including advising, dormitory association, coaching, committee work and other duties. St. Paul’s School is a completely residential, co-educational secondary school in Concord, NH, affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcoming to all faiths. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be interested in working and living with adolescents. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physics. Two or more years teaching Physics at the secondary level. Preference given to teachers who are able to teach other subjects such as chemistry and/or biology. |
