Description WEST VIRGINIA - Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center West Virginia University Assistant/Associate Professor School of Dentistry - General Practice Residency, Director Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery The West Virginia University School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time, clinical or tenure track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level to serve as Director of the hospital-based General Practice Residency (GPR) Program. Responsibilities include the advanced training of residents in all facets of general dentistry, administration of the program including the selection and evaluation of residents, meeting reporting requirements of the School of Dentistry, Commission on Dental Accreditation, and other entities. The Director reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and works closely with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and other administrators. The Director also provides direct patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as serving in a supervisory capacity. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and cultural diversity among members of various education, research, and service communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health-science educational setting is essential.
