The tenured/tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor is responsible for teaching undergraduate Science Education courses including upper courses. The course lead and the specific courses vary from semester to semester. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, teaching advanced courses in the candidate?s area of expertise; develop new courses in their area of expertise; conducting funded research and producing scholarly work; providing service to the department and the university; seeking and receiving external funding to promote department activities and research; providing mentoring and advisement to students; providing committee services for the department and university.
Teaches courses in education, or science education for elementary and secondary teacher candidate; preparing syallbi and course materials to ensure quality instruction; utilizes learning management systems to make course materials accessible to students; submits attendance records and grades in accordance with established university timelines; and provides academic advisement and professional development opportunities for students.
Maintains active participation in research and seeking and receiving external funding to promote department activities and research.
Provides service to the department, college, and university and working collaboratively with school and community partners to develop and implement educational programs and services.
Required Education & Experience:
Earned Doctorate degree in Education with specialization in Science Education, or a related field.
Prior experience in research, including proposal writing, project execution with the training of students, and publication of results.
Candidates being considered for the Associate Professor level must be tenure-eligible.
Teaching experience in K-12 schools with diverse populations, strong instructional background and knowledge of assessment, and experience with culturally responsive teaching methods and strategies is preferred.
