Extension Communications Coordinator Extension Support Specialist I - SP Ithaca, New York Who We Are CALS is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell University's second-largest college. The questions we probe and the answers we seek focus on three overlapping concerns: natural and human systems; food, energy, and environmental resources; and social, physical, and economic well-being. The Department of Animal Science's mission is to discover and disseminate new knowledge about the biology and management of domestic animals and to apply this knowledge to benefit society. Our department is devoted to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, extension, and outreach. What You Will Do We are seeking a talented individual who will lead the development of an outward-facing extension communications program in Animal Science, geared at providing information to students, direct stakeholders, and the public through popular press web and print articles, podcasts, and radio programs. The overall goal is to increase awareness of food animal production and build stronger relationships with the Department of Animal Science, Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4H educators, students, farmers, nutritionists, policymakers, and non-farming neighbors that benefit from agricultural food production and protection of the environment. This position is part-time (20 hours/week) and will be based in Ithaca, New York. This is a one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
