| Graland Country Day School is seeking a lower school science teacher with experience in early childhood and elementary classrooms. Science teachers are responsible for leading the elementary science instructional program, which includes, but is not limited to, planning, developing, implementing, assessing and monitoring the science curriculum. Graland Lower School students are involved in first-hand exploration and investigation where inquiry, critical thinking, innovation, and process skills are nurtured. The science program provides opportunities for students to develop the understanding and skills necessary to function productively as problem-solvers in a scientific and technological world. Reports to Head of Lower School Status: Full-time, school year Position Description Lower School science teachers work with a range of grade levels from preschool through fourth grade and are members of departmental and grade-level teams. The Lower School experience at Graland calls for teachers to recognize that working with this age group requires a variety of roles, and a high level of energy and enthusiasm from its faculty. Lower School science teachers accomplish the above as they: -
Provide science instruction through whole- and small-group lessons, experiments, labs, field trips, technology, data analysis, and other teaching methods -
Communicate with parents through written progress reports, and other forms of communication such as parent meetings, phone calls, and emails -
Collaborate with the grade-level teachers, science teachers, and administration, using a growth mindset -
Engage in professional development to further enhance knowledge of learning differences, differentiation, and strategies for problem-solving, intervention, remediation and/or enrichment Team Player Lower School science teachers are collaborative and supportive members of the Graland community who: -
