Friends seeks a Science Teacher who possesses a deep understanding of child development and progressive pedagogy, appreciation for the importance of practicing mindfulness and actively teaching social & emotional skills, and a commitment to diversity social justice & service learning and a demonstration of cultural competency. The successful candidate is devoted to the School’s mission and program and possesses passion and imagination they will bring to our school community. The Science Teacher reports to the Elementary/Middle School Division Head and is a member of the Elementary/Middle School team. The Science Teacher should have knowledge of inquiry-based and project-based learning. Summary: The Teacher at Friends School is responsible for working with the teachers and students in fourth through eight grade. They are responsible for the science instruction of the children, developing curriculum, and fostering experiential learning. In addition, they care for and maintain the science equipment and lab spaces. The Science Teacher is responsible for cultivating a community of learners in the classroom who respect and care for one another. The Science Teacher works collaboratively with the classroom and specialist teachers and administrators, and participates fully in the life of the school. Salary Range: Salary range for this 50% position is $15,000-$32,500 and pay is commensurate with experience, degree, and position.
