| The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) School of Pharmacy is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor faculty appointment in the area of Pharmacogenomics. This full-time, 12-month, position is located at the main MCW campus in Milwaukee, WI.
Position This position provides the incumbent the opportunity to build a number of initiatives. First and foremost is establishing a clinical pharmacogenomics program that brings pharmacogenomics implementation into routine clinical practice in collaboration with clinical partners of MCW (i.e., Froedtert Health) and the respective departments of pharmacy. The faculty will be expected to develop post-graduate training programs (i.e., fellowships) and support educational concentrations in the doctor of pharmacy curriculum as well as Masters level programming. Core responsibilities of this position include:
School of Pharmacy In serving the four missions of MCW, the School of Pharmacy intends to become a destination program for health sciences education and practice, by engaging students, practitioners, and researchers across the continuum of discovery to care, ensuring that graduates are “practice ready” and “team ready.” The Schools vision is to engage learners, practitioners, and researchers to transform health care through the continuum of discovery and the advancement of innovative pharmacy practice and patient care models needs including clinical pharmacogenomics. The MCW School of Pharmacy is accredited with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Screening will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. About MCW Located on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus, the School of Pharmacy will join the School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and the Blood Research Institute of Wisconsin. Annually, MCW enrolls over 1,400 students in degree programs and supports post-graduate training of over 900 physicians with over $160M in support for research, teaching, training and related purposes. The campus is adjacent to the vibrant and growing metropolitan area of Milwaukee and near the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, also a partner of MCW.
Collaborations This position is immersed in vibrant academic health science campus that continues to advance its research and clinical missions. There are significant opportunities for advancing research through several MCW Departments, Centers and Institutes, most notably the newly launched Genomics Science Precision Medicine Center. Collaborations exist with the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Drug Discovery Center, Cell Biology and Neurobiology Department, and Neuroscience Research Center. The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeastern Wisconsin, a consortium of eight regional organizations whose mission is to advance the health of the community through research and discovery is located on the MCW Milwaukee Campus. Qualifications Applicants should have earned a PharmD or equivalent degrees in a field related to Pharmacy and/or training in Clinical Pharmacogenomics. Pharmacists must be eligible for licensure in Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years with expertise or background in clinical pharmacogenomics applications. The primary faculty appointment will be in the Clinical Sciences Department of the School of Pharmacy with a plausible secondary appointment in another academic unit of MCW. In addition, candidates should have the ability to collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to sustain a culture attentive to interprofessional education, have demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and group communication skills, and be active in professional organizations. Candidates who have research, grant writing and publication experience in clinical pharmacogenomics will be given priority. Faculty rank, academic appointments, and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. |
