South Kent School
South Kent School, established in 1923, is a college preparatory school for boys in grades 9 through 12 nestled in the hills of picturesque northwestern Connecticut. South Kent School prepares young men to succeed in college and thrive as thoughtful and engaged citizens in a rapidly changing and intensely competitive world. Stand out features of South Kent:
Principles of Learning: South Kent School’s Principles of Learning create a unifying framework by which we understand how to teach our students effectively. Through these principles, the faculty guide students in an adaptive and supportive environment to grow in mind, body, and spirit:
The primary goal of our STEM program is to develop flexible, creative, and confident problem solvers who feel challenged at the appropriate cognitive level. The curriculum requires each student to think logically, critically, and analytically. Teachers model resourceful and creative ways to approach unfamiliar problems so that students can become independent. Students learn to articulate their steps in problem solving, as well as how to assess accuracy and appropriateness of solutions. Ideal candidates are those who seek to partner with parents, collaborate with team members, demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, motivate students academically, and support students in developing their moral character. A firm understanding of differentiated instruction and 21st century skills should drive this candidate’s instruction.
