Committed to advancing excellence and equity in education, the Graduate School of Education (GSE) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick seeks a qualified candidate for a 10-month Non-Tenure Track faculty position to develop and foster clinical partnerships with urban school districts to help build the GSE Community School Partnership Network (GSE-CSPN).
The Partnership Leaders will work under the supervision of the Faculty Director of Teacher Education and Department Chair, and spend considerable time working in partner districts, conducting clinical supervision of teacher candidates, building and maintaining partnerships, helping to create activity plans that are mutually beneficial to both the GSE and the partnership schools, teaching courses, collecting and assessing data about partnerships and teacher candidates. S/he will also provide service to the assigned department and to the Graduate School of Education. The Partnership Leader will: 1. Serve as the GSE partner to designated New Jersey PK-12 public schools and districts 2. Facilitate communication between designated partner schools, districts, and the GSE 3. Help facilitate clinical placements, introductory clinical visits, and other special events for partner districts 4. Participate in partnership-related events including Advisory Council meetings, workshops, and trainings. 5. Coordinate designated special projects at the GSE related to partnership development or pre- service teacher clinical experience. 6. Conduct formal clinical observations, including pre- and post- observation conferences with teacher candidates, and provide support to pre-service teachers in clinical settings as part of a clinical support team. 7. Maintain timely on-line assessments of teacher candidates and facilitate timely communication among the candidates' clinical support team. 8. Minimum Education and Experience:
We seek candidates for the Assistant Professor of Practice Level with an earned doctorate in education from an accredited university in a relevant area. Applicants for the Assistant Instructor level should have a minimum of an earned master's degree in education from an accredited university in a relevant area. Preference will be given to applicants with experience or backgrounds in one or more of the following fields: Bilingual/ESL Education, Social Studies Education, or Science Education. Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in PK-12 public schools and recent experience in P-12 classrooms in diverse public school settings (teaching, researching, supervising, coaching, or consulting).
Expertise in more than one area of licensure and successful experience in urban education settings is highly preferred. In screening applicants, we will be looking for evidence of demonstrated commitment to addressing diversity, equity, and social justice issues in education/higher education.
Our school and university are especially interested in applications from individuals who are members of groups that have been and still are underrepresented in university faculty positions. Salary and terms of appointment are commensurate with qualifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
