Main Duties and Responsibilities
Uses school's guiding statements to determine appropriate learning objectives for the class
Creates a positive, safe, inclusive learning environment
Monitors and evaluates student progress and achievement in relation to learning objectives
Collaborates effectively with colleagues in creating authentic learning experiences for students
Collaborates effectively with teaching team and with teaching partner
Contributes to the school community outside of the classroom (e.g., after-school activities, coaching, etc.)
Serves as a middle school advisor
Actively seeks professional growth opportunities through Nido’s PD Academy
Maintains an orderly and safe classroom environment

Qualifications and Experience
Degree and teaching certification that covers Science grades 6-8, and another subject
A minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience
Experience teaching through inquiry with a project-based curriculum
Experience teaching and assessing the Next Generation Science Standards
Experience developing instructional units using the Understanding By Design framework
Experience working in a multicultural school environment
Fluency in English
Ability to inspire middle school students and celebrate their unique stage of development
Ability to differentiate instruction in a class with diverse learning needs
Ability to create an engaging and active learning environment in a student-centered classroom
Strong skills of collaboration
