Grammar School Science Teacher
The Grammar School Science Teacher is a qualified educator committed to building a classroom culture that fosters students’ genuine love for learning and creates a sense of curiosity and problem-solving. Led by their own curiosity and love of discovery, the GS Science teacher establishes a safe and joyful learning environment in which failure is embraced as a necessary step on the pathway to deeper understanding.The Grammar School Science Teacher has experience teaching grammar school aged children (PreK-4th Grade) and has a degree in elementary education or an area of science. The Grammar School Science Teacher holds primary responsibility for implementation of the science curriculum and assessment of student progress and is committed to continuously improving curriculum, instruction and performance through collaboration as part of a content area team.

Create science unit plans, based upon the Next Generation Science Standards, that reflect sequential learning with differentiated activities based on students’ knowledge and skills
Collaborate with other STEAM and classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary learning experiences
Use grade level guidelines to assess and evaluate students throughout the year, maintaining records and writing report cards accordingly
Maintain classroom materials and resources in a Google Shared Drive
Create instructional resources for use in the classroom
Facilitate hands-on, independent activities with students
Work cooperatively with classroom teachers in planning and implementing a balanced science education program
Collaborate positively and respectfully with all members of the Grammar School community, including colleagues, school administrators and parents
7:45am to 3:30pm, 7:45am to 4:30pm on Department and Faculty Meeting days

Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
Degree in elementary education or an area of science
Knowledge of and an interest in general science
Experience with Inquiry-based instruction, the 5E Instructional Model, Project Based Learning, or Three Dimensional Learning
Minimum of three years full time teaching experience, preferably in grades pre-k through fourth grade
Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
Ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with parents
Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
