The Director of Communications and Marketing in the Department of Allied Health Sciences (DAHS) will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for the department. This position will work directly with the UNC Health Care System’s Marketing Director, Associate Dean of Allied Health Sciences, Associate Chairs (Administration, Research, Clinical, Student Services, Academic Affairs and Faculty Affairs), the Division Directors of Occupational Science, Physical Therapy, Rehab Counseling, Clinical Lab Sciences, Radiologic Science, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Physician Assistant Studies, Neurodiagnostic Sleep Sciences, the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies, Director of the Human Movement Science Program and Center for HMSC. This position will provide a wide range of services to external and internal constituents, faculty, staff, and students and will serve as key advisor within Allied Health on all issues related to marketing and communications. The Director must define messages appropriate for local, state, regional, and national constituencies that support our mission, enhance our reputation, and encourage private and public support. The Director will provide leadership, consultation, and implementation of external communications, including development communications, events marketing, publicity of research and programs, and publicity of the Department of Allied Health Sciences.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Demonstrated written communication skills, including strong editing skills represented by publication products, communication materials, presentation materials, social media and/or web development and management, etc. Candidates must be able to apply excellent grammar skills. Candidates must be able to work independently. Advanced graphic design skills are essential for this position. Candidates must be able to maintain and update a web site.
Prefer candidates with communications/marketing/media experience. Demonstrated experience producing digital media (social media management, digital sign deployment, video production).
