Tilton School seeks an experienced and energetic Biology and Environmental Science educator with a passion for developing student skills in critical thinking, communication, creative engagement and design thinking. The position includes teaching four or five sections that could include Introductory Biology up through Advanced Placement Biology, as well as Environmental Sciences under the supervision of the Science Department Head.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
Outstanding skills in oral and written communication;
An abiding belief that all students can grow and succeed in a rigorous science curriculum;
Experience with authentic assessment, design-thinking and problem-based learning;
Expertise in the integration of technology into classroom instruction;
Ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum;
Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction;
Skill at managing multi-faceted work in an intense and supportive learning community.
Applicant must be able to attend a week-long 1St Year Faculty Workshop in early August
Other duties for this position include: advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, active participation in our residential program including weeknight-weekend supervision.
