Our school seeks a professional, experienced and passionate educator to teach science to grades 3 - 5. The qualified candidate will have teaching experience at the upper elementary school level, background, interest, and passion for teaching science, and a bachelor’s degree in a related educational field. Successful candidates will have sound pedagogical skills, highly developed writing and organizational skills, experience teaching in a lab setting, a growth mindset, positive resolve, follow through, and the desire to build positive and meaningful relationships with students in a manner consistent with our child-centered, integrated, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Candidates should have experience working in a diverse setting, and demonstrate a commitment to co-creating a racially just and inclusive learning community. Advanced degree preferred but not required. This position is approximately 50% FTE and could be combined with other roles.

The school’s curriculum emphasizes Quaker values, academic strength, and cultural competence. Greene Street graduates attend the top private and public magnet high schools, the largest percentage attending Central High School. Since the mid-1960’s the school has implemented a mission-based business model that prioritizes financial accessibility, with an enrollment of 45% - 55% students of color. Over the past twenty years, the school has doubled both in enrollment and campus size. Current enrollment is 320 students on a campus of three acres. The annual budget is $5M, no debt.
