Mission: To help students engage in a life-long love of exploration, to ask questions, and to find answers to those questions through observation, collaboration, experiment design, and discussion.
The Elementary Science Teaching Assistant will support science teachers and students’ learning experiences inside and out of the classroom. Working with a classroom of up to 20 students, the Teaching Assistant will work closely with the science teachers to ensure a joyful, inquisitive, hands-on, and safe learning environment. The Teaching assistant will collaborate with the science teachers in setting up activities, modifying lessons, and engaging students in activities. This position also offers opportunities for growth and practice of all aspects of experiential learning with elementary students in a science classroom.
Actively engage in all aspects of science learning
“Getting dirty” while actively engaging with students in year-long indoor and outdoor lesson implementation.
Support classroom management
Work with students individually, in small groups, and whole groups.
Assist with lesson preparation by organizing materials, collaborating on lesson and activity design, and setting up equipment.
Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
Abide by school health and safety protocols and support students in doing so
