The Lammel lab in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley is looking for a highly motivated individual to conduct research and manage a multidisciplinary team that pioneers advanced technologies to understand neural circuit alterations in psychiatric diseases. Specifically, we are looking for a self-motivated and independent individual who will take ownership of ensuring that the lab has everything that it needs to keep operations on time and successful. Performs standard laboratory procedures such as preparing slides using straining techniques, and performing assays for protein, RNA, DNA, or other cellular components (e.g. genotyping of mice)
Routine preparatory work including making solutions or reagents and chemicals; weigh and dilute drugs
Assist with and/or perform surgical procedures as applied to small animals
Keep records of the conduct and outcomes of laboratory analyses including entry into a database
Performing minor maintenance and repair of laboratory apparatus and instruments; sterilizing and autoclaving glassware and solutions; wash and clean laboratory areas and equipment
Technically proficient and accurate
Possess attention to detail
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Salary & Benefits
This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience.

This is a 12-month, full-time, 40-hours per week, Limited (temporary) position. Per the TX contract, the automatic conversion to career status will not occur as the funding for the position is 'one time' funding, of eighteen (18) months or less.
