Academy High seeks a part-time Science Teacher who is qualified to teach high school Physics starting in the 2021-2022 school year. Depending on interest and experience, additional teaching duties may include Health & Wellness classes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach one section of 10th grade Physics, a year-long academic core course with a focus on the real-world, hands-on learning.
Works with the department chair and curricular team to plan, document, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
Creates effective assessment tools to support student achievement and growth.
Evaluates and grades students' class work, assignments, and papers.
Uses effective classroom management techniques to ensure effective learning.
Consistently communicates student progress.
Collaborates effectively with departmental and teaching-teams as well as student support service personnel.
Participate in essential school activities such as faculty meetings, student-parent-teacher conferences, student advising, club sponsorship, and support of school functions.
A bachelor’s degree in Science.
2+ years of teaching experience in a high school or higher education setting.
Familiarity with NGSS and/or Illinois State Board of Education Science Learning Standards.
A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A willingness to engage students both inside and outside the classroom in a variety of co- and extracurricular activities (advising, coaching, club sponsoring, etc.).
Experience working in a one-to-one laptop environment or relevant technology skills.
Graduate degree in a social studies or humanities field.
3+ years of teaching experience in a high school or higher education setting.
Experience supporting students, both in and out of the classroom.
Candidates with experience teaching middle or high school and/or college and university courses are encouraged to apply, as are those who have experience with developing new courses.
