The Office of Precollege Programs (PCP) and Science and Math Investigative Learning Experiences (SMILE) is seeking a Grant Specialist. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Grant Specialist position fulfills a range of duties focused on grant development, management, financial oversight of grant funded projects, including some elements of project evaluation. The unit has a strong focus on diversity, equity and inclusion with the explicit intent of broadening participation in higher education and in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields in particular. SMILE and PCP's mission is to increase underrepresented student's success in STEM degree programs and careers by increasing high school graduation rates and enrollment in college. These programs are funded by both Education and General (E&G) funds and external funds (state, federal and private).
The purpose of Grant Specialist position is to a) research funding opportunities, write, edit and submit grant proposals, b) work with Oregon State University's Office of Sponsored Research and Award Administration (OSRAA) to ensure compliance and monitoring of proposals pre and post-awards, c) work with the OSU Foundation to create partnerships and develop funding opportunities with private donors and other foundations, d) organize, coordinate grants, monitor grant projects to ensure requirements are met, e) work with budget team to monitor and track expenditures and ensure compliance and timeliness; f) lead efforts to write and submit annual and final project reports to OSRAA, OSU Foundation and funders, f) represent SMILE/PCP on the University's Cross-College Collaborate Research Exchange- CARE group g) maintain the unit's grant portfolio page and support marketing/branding efforts to promote grant projects.
Typically requires Master's Degree in field relevant to program focus.
BS in STEM, Science Education, Education, Communications, Creative Writing or a related field providing skills complimentary to the job description.
Demonstrated minimum of 3 years of experience in grant development and management.
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per PSU Standard 576-055-000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks in 24 months.
Typically office environment. Some weekend and evening work. Travel for projects, conferences and other as needed.
