The Department of Computer Science at East Carolina University invites applications for two 0.9 FTE temporary positions for the Fall 2021 semester only, with possible renewal for Spring 2022. These are on-campus positions. The teaching load for each position is 12 credit hours per semester. More specifically, the successful candidate will teach lower-division courses in Computer Science and Software Engineering areas and supervise graduate students who will teach lab sections for the lower-division courses. The positions also require service to the department, which may involve participation in on-campus and off-campus student recruitment events, mentoring undergraduate students, serving as a faculty advisor for the ACM student chapter, and helping students find summer internships.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The College of Engineering and Technology is comprised of the departments of Computer Science, Construction Management, Engineering, and Technology Systems. Faculty and /staff in the College provide high-quality graduate and undergraduate degree opportunities and research and service programs that enable students to achieve their career goals and that promote a strong, sustainable future for our region. The Computer Science department has twelve tenured or tenure-track positions and also employs a fixed-term and a few adjunct instructors. Current areas of research in the department include software engineering, data management and mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive computing, information retrieval, programming languages, and computer science education. The computer Science department offers five degree programs: a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, and master's degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, and Software Engineering. Approximately 500 undergraduate and 80 graduate students are enrolled in these programs.
