Located on a beautiful 86-acre campus in Hamilton, Ontario, Redeemer operates under a charter from the Government of Ontario and is a member of Universities Canada (UC), the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC).
The Chemistry Lab Instructor will teach lab sections in introductory courses, support other faculty teaching chemistry labs, oversee lab health and safety training for students, manage chemical inventory (including satisfying WHMIS requirements and ensuring proper labelling and storage), maintain laboratory equipment, train students and faculty on equipment use, and support faculty in the development of new lab exercises.
Teach eight lab sections per year (typically at the 100- and 200-level); this includes preparing solutions, setting up labs, cleaning up and assessing student lab assignments.
Suport other faculty teaching chemistry and environmental science labs by helping prepare, set up, and clean up labs.
Ensure students taking lab courses complete an online lab health and safety module, and document that this has been done.
Manage chemical inventory, set up and oversee proper chemical labeling, storage, and disposal.
Maintain tidy lab spaces.
Maintain equipment (AAS, IR, UV/VIS, NMR spectrophotometers, etc.) and train students in their proper use.
Support faculty in the development of new lab exercises that help meet program learning outcomes.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Familiarity with lab space, equipment and safety procedures
Teaching (especially lab-based teaching) experience is an asset
Understanding of, and commitment to Redeemer University (mission, values, and Reformed Christian identity)

MSc degree in Chemistry or a related discipline
