Department: Nebr Ctr for Materials & Nanoscience-1319
Description of Work:
This position involves administratively supporting the Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience's (NCMN) overall operations plus providing development, management, execution (including in-person, hands-on event participation), and marketing of new and existing science education programs for NCMN, the Nebraska Nanoscale Facilities and the NSF-EPSCoR Emergent Quantum Materials and Technologies (EQUATE) grant, in collaboration with associated academic departments. Specific tasks include the following: Coordinate related activities in the areas of science of novel materials, nanoscience, quantum materials and technologies, physical sciences and engineering. Assist in the recruitment and retention of students and visiting faculty including those from underrepresented groups. Coordinate with faculty in the development of proposals for external funding of education and outreach programs. Leading the effort in reporting the education and outreach activities to funding agencies including active participation in reviews. Provide administrative support for summer and undergraduate research programs and experiences for faculty, students and high school teachers.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in an area relevant to the development, management, and operation of education/outreach programs or in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline plus six months of experience in education/outreach in a higher education or equivalent setting. Experience in effectively interacting with faculty, staff, and students in materials, nanoscience, or experimental scientific research within a laboratory setting. Ability to assess/analyze situations and make adjustments to achieve desired objectives. Understanding of scientific research within a laboratory setting.
Master of Science degree in an area relevant to the development, management, and operation of education/outreach programs or in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline. Three years of experience in education/outreach in a higher education setting. Several years of experience in effectively interacting with faculty, staff, and students in materials, nanoscience, or experimental scientific research within a laboratory setting.
Posted Salary: $23.077/hr. minimum
